Neil: Hiking or Barking

what better way to initiate our 3 1/2 year old grandson into the world of hiking. we took him to the York Region Hollidge Tract. unfortunately we found this area has turned into a glorified dog park. we were constantly inundated with all sizes of unleashed dogs coming at us, although it turned out they were not dangerous (up to now) it became a very unpleasant experience. the sign states 'dogs should be leashed or under control'. thank you to the 5% of owners who had their dogs leashed, under control means dogs stay by and listen to the owners commands. this did not happen. no wonder we only noticed one other family with small children and they soon vacated the area. hikers avoid this area.
