Saturday, May 23rd, 2009 This Walk is for the birds! We're really looking forward to the Bird Festival that the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority is putting on. A stop-over point for migrating birds, Tommy Thompson Park has recorded over 300 bird species and is designated as an internationally acclaimed Important Bird Area. Schedule 7:00 a.m. START - approximately 1.5 hours long. This is the time to be there - when peak birding activity is most likely to occur. MEET AT Tommy Thompson Park entrance at the foot of Leslie Street (see map below).
After the Birding Tour you are welcome to stay and enjoy the various interpretive displays revolving around the following themes -
2. Tropics to … Toronto
3. Birds of a Feather that Nest Together
For those of you that want to Walk after the Bird Tour, Tom Fiore will be leading a group to the lighthouse at the "Tip of the Spit" - an 8km round-trip that takes approximately 2 hours.
